The world’s largest hockey stadium, completed in a record 15 months

The Birsa Munda International Hockey Stadium in Rourkela, Odisha inaugurated on January 5, 2023 by the Chief Minister of Odisha, is the world's largest hockey stadium and was completed in a record time of 15 months in time for the FIH World Cup Hockey Tournament 2023. Constructed on an area of 50 acres, the 20,000 seater stadium features one main playing field, a practice field, practice and fitness centers, state-of-the-art player change rooms, hydrotherapy facilities, and more. Made entirely of structural steel, the stands are covered with aluminum composite paneling and an expanded mesh to allow for natural light and air circulation.
