L&T completes India's Second Largest Operational Metro Project at Hyderabad

Hon'ble Chief Minister of Telangana inaugurates Green Line of Hyderabad Metro Rail project

Corridor - II, the Green Line stretch from JBS Parade Ground to Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) of the Hyderabad Metro Rail project was flagged off today by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri K Chandrashekar Rao, in the presence of Shri G Kishan Reddy, Hon'ble Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, GoI, Shri K T Rama Rao, Hon'ble Minister MA & UD, Industries & IT&C, Government of Telangana State and senior management from Larsen & Toubro including Mr. S. N. Subrahmanyan, CEO & Managing Director, Larsen & Toubro & Chairman, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd. and Mr. K. V. B. Reddy, MD & CEO, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd, along with other dignitaries.

After the launch, the Chief Minister accompanied by the dignitaries embarked on the maiden ride from Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) Parade Ground to Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) metro stations to mark the official launch of the metro services.

The 11 km Corridor - II - Green Line featuring 9 stations connects the twin cities of Secunderabad with Hyderabad at the MGBS on the Musi River that is expected to reduce travel time to just 16 minutes from one end to the other, as against 45 minutes by road.

"Today, with the inauguration of Corridor II, the people of Hyderabad will have 69.2 state-of-the-art km of metro that should definitely go a long way to transform this wonderful city into a more modern and commuter-friendly one. We are grateful for the enlightened leadership and support we have received from the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Telangana and his government to build this world-class infrastructure, as also from the Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited. Certainly, the Hyderabad Metro ushers in a new era of seamless commuting in India."

JBS Parade Ground Metro Station
JBS Parade Ground metro station is in a secured area next to Hyderabad's second largest bus terminus and is one of the tallest in the project with five levels. It has been designed as a portal frame type RCC structure with columns on either side of the road and one in the central median with enough entries and exists. A skywalk connects it to the Parade Grounds Station (Interchange) of Corridor III.

MGBS Interchange Metro Station
Spread over 3 lakh square feet, Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (MGBS) Interchange metro station is one of the largest in the country with several special features. Uniquely built, it houses the interchange between Corridors I & II with three levels with each, again split into two, as one corridor passes over the other. All the passenger friendly facilities are seamlessly integrated to enable easy and smooth transit from one corridor to the other.
