The Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line), a project of key significance, has been dedicated to the Nation by the Honourable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi. This 33.5 km fully underground corridor represents a monumental milestone in connectivity, sustainability, and urban progress for Mumbai. We have executed two critical packages, UGC-01 in South Mumbai and UGC-07 near the country’s second busiest international airport. Our Heavy Civil Infrastructure business scope involved the construction of seven state-of-the-art underground stations and the associated twin-tunnel systems:
UGC-01: Cuffe Parade, Vidhan Bhavan, Churchgate, and Hutatma Chowk stations.
UGC-07: Marol Naka, MIDC, and Seepz stations.
The project leveraged cutting-edge engineering practices, including the deployment of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) and New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM), to construct 8.4 km of twin tunnels. This challenging undertaking successfully navigated tunnelling operations in close proximity to the Arabian Sea, beneath congested urban settings, and below priceless heritage structures, a testament to our technical prowess. Our Railways business executed the advanced Metro Systems Works, which included the integration of the Power Supply System (comprising Receiving, Traction, and Auxiliary Substations), a comprehensive SCADA System for full integration, and the laying of Low Vibration Ballastless Track across the entire 33.5 km length. The Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) blends sophisticated, cutting-edge tunnelling technology with environmentally sensitive construction practices. It delivers a faster, cleaner, and congestion-free transit solution, transforming the daily commute for millions and establishing a new benchmark for urban connectivity in India.
