Our Heavy Civil Infrastructure business is constructing India's longest river bridge over the Brahmaputra, connecting Dhubri in Assam to Phulbari in Meghalaya. Located 260 km west of Guwahati, Dhubri holds immense strategic importance for India, sharing borders with Bangladesh, Meghalaya, and West Bengal. The 19.28 km bridge will reduce the travel distance between Dhubri and Phulbari from 212 km to just 20 km, significantly boosting trade and economic growth in the region.
This four-lane bridge is expected to connect over 31.47 lakh people across Assam and Meghalaya. It will fill a critical gap in National Highway 127B, enhancing connectivity from Srirampur to Nongstoin. Designed by L&T’s in-house Engineering Development & Research Centre, the bridge will feature advanced structures to withstand the challenging conditions of the Brahmaputra’s multiple channels and severe weather.
Scheduled for completion by 2027, the project has already achieved over 48% completion as of May 2024, aiming to enhance regional trade, tourism, and overall connectivity.
