The launch of "Nayi Disha" (New Direction) underscores our commitment to creating a sustainable impact through focussed Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives. This flagship programme is focused on improving education and health outcomes within underserved communities across the states of Jharkhand, Odisha, and Bihar.
"Nayi Disha" is currently reaching out to 3 States, 7 Districts, 10 Blocks, and over 100 villages. The program’s design follows a rigorous needs assessment conducted in selected Panchayats to ensure targeted, long-term positive changes in overall community well-being. By focusing on these specific districts and blocks, we aim to guide communities toward greater empowerment, self-reliance, and holistic development.
In partnership with select NGOs, numerous health camps including general, ophthalmic, and dental have been organized in multiple rural villages across the districts. On the educational front, our CSR efforts will support the enhancement of basic infrastructure facilities in Anganwadis and schools, including critical improvements to drinking water and sanitation.
To date, Nayi Disha has positively impacted over 10,000 + lives—including students, teachers, women, and families—enhancing educational access, improving health outcomes, and building resilient, self-reliant communities across these 3 states.
18,000+ children from across 57 schools in and around Chennai, Kanchipuram, Thiruvallur, and Chengalpet district benefit from our efforts to provide infrastructure support and implement Smart Classrooms. Apart from having transformed the learning environment, we have equipped the faculty with modern educational tools and resources for an improved educational experience.
Nethraksha, a joint initiative by L&T and Aravind Eye Hospital, provides free screenings and treatments for eye ailments like pink eye, lazy eye, and refractive errors. Over 8,000 individuals, primarily children have undergone screening through this initiative till date and further aid provided to the needy.
The result of our enduring partnership of over 5 years with Bhumi, a NGO, is the expansion of community learning centers that have significantly impacted the lives of over 2100 children from slum settlements, primarily in north Chennai. The collaboration focuses on strengthening their academic fundamentals and fostering essential life skills, to ensure their holistic development.
Focused on inspiring and inculcating a scientific temper amongst children from the underprivileged sections of the scociety, L&T Construction is partnering MSSRF (M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation) for the ambitious ‘ECAS’ initiative. The 15-day programme has already successfully touched 1000+ students from various government schools in the city of Chennai. The activities include time in a digital lab established on the MSSRF premises.
Project WASH is a collaborative initiative between L&T and United Way of Chennai aimed at improving sanitation facilities in government schools. By renovating toilets and constructing new sanitation blocks, the project has created a healthier and more conducive learning environment for children.
An annual event hosted at our Chennai campus to provide a platform for NGOs working for the disability cause to exhibit and sell products made by artisans. Nearly 15 NGOs participate in the event.
