L&T bags Rs. 412 crore orders
Mumbai, May 18, 2007: Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) has bagged two orders valued at Rs. 412 crores.
A Rs.332 crore Engineer-Procure-Construct (EPC) lift irrigation contract was bagged by L&T and its JV partner Kirloskar Brothers Limited from the Irrigation & Command Area Development Dept (ICAD), Government of Andhra Pradesh.
In another development L&T has bagged an order valued over Rs. 80 crores from Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).
The lift irrigation contract from ICAD involves investigation, design, supply and erection of necessary lift systems with all electrical and mechanical components, surge protection systems, control valves, etc., for lifting 7.80 TMC water from Goddamvaripalli village to Goddumarri Anicut in the Cuddappah district of Andhra Pradesh including operation and maintenance. L&T’s contract value is Rs.274 crores.
Water from Gandikota dam will be drawn through MS pipelines and pumped to Goddumarri Anicut using of concrete volute pumps. From the Anicut water will be discharged to fields.
Scope of work for Kirloskar Brothers involves design, manufacture, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of pumps, motors, all electromechanical, instrumentation works and HVAC system.
The lift irrigation project is to be completed in 24 months and will not only benefit farmers who will get a dependable source of water for irrigation but also reduce their dependence on ground water exploitation.
The order from RINL is for executing civil works for Wire Rod Mill No. 2 of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), where L&T and its international consortium partners of Paul Wurth Italia and India will be executing an EPC (Engineer-Procure-Construct) package valued over Rs.1400 crores for the expansion of VSP. The expansion project involves installation of a new third blast furnace -- a state-of-the-art 3800 CuM unit with a capacity of 2.5 million tonnes of hot metal per year.
