Cricket for a Cause

The second edition of the Cancer Institute (WIA) – Larsen & Toubro Limited softball cricket match was inaugurated by actor Jeeva on Saturday April 1, 2006 at YMCA College Cricket Ground, Nandanam, Chennai. Organised by the Friends of the Adyar Cancer Institute, this Cricket Carnival is part of their 20 Varai 20 Project (unique way of selling Rs.20 coupons till they reach Rs.20 Crore). L&T has lent its helping hand by contributing Rs.3 lakhs to sponsor the event and rolling trophy . The first edition was held in September 2005. ECC’s Super Eleven Players represented L&T in six cricket matches and finished as runners-up (reached semi-finals in the first edition). Trophies to the winning teams, the man of the match, the best bowler and the best bastman were given away by test players L. Balaji and Tinu Yohana and Mr. K. V. Rangaswami, Executive Director and Head – Construction, L&T on Sunday, the April 2, 2006. L&T enjoys a brand image in India and several countries offshore.
