The OC provides a variety of construction enabling services, which serves as solutions or processes for critical and complex construction works.
”Construction Enabling Services Cell” (CESC) primarily aids in better utilization of resources by way of systemizing, automating and mechanizing some of the labour intensive site activities resulting in higher productivity and speedier completion of projects. CESC comprises L&T Formwork Business Unit, Steel Reinforcement Service Centre and Precast Concrete Centre.
L&T FORMWORK BUSINESS UNIT
L&T Formwork Business Unit, offers “Total Formwork Solutions” for all types of reinforced concrete structures for varied applications. Formwork gives form or shape to concrete and also it supports the weight of concrete until it attains sufficient strength to carry its own weight.
L&T formwork ensures speedy construction with high levels of accuracy and superlative concrete finish together with enhanced productivity.
L&T Formwork System is an engineered, fully compatible arrangement of different components with an optimal number of individual elements having inbuilt safety features, for various forming requirements of Concrete Construction. These components are freely interchangeable for different applications, lending considerable flexibility apart from minimizing investment.
Systems marketed include Large-area Wall formwork, Column formwork, Flex systems for RC floors, Heavy duty towers for heavy and tall floors, Advanced Automatic & Semi-automatic Climbing formwork system and Modular panel systems like Frami used for casting RC walls and columns.
The Formwork Business Unit also undertakes design, fabrication and supply of custom-built Formwork assemblies for specialized applications like Slipform for tall structures like Chimneys, Silos, Cores of high-rise buildings; Tunnel forms for multi-storied buildings, Aluminium Formwork for Slabs and Walls , etc.,
L&T’s modern factory at Pondicherry has a capacity to manufacture 20,000 TPA of L&T Formwork. The unit also has facilities for manufacturing 12 lakh running metres per annum of H-16/H-20 timber beams.
STEEL SERVICE CENTRE
In order to reduce manual labour work at sites; improve productivity, efficiency and speed of site operations, Steel Service Centres are established in major cities to supply high quality rebar products for meeting the needs of various fast track construction projects. The company has already set up three such centres – one each in Mumbai, Hyderabad and Chennai. Each of these units can supply cut & bent reinforcement to the tune of approximately 24000 tonnes per annum.
PRECAST CONCRETE CENTRE
L&T also looking into the opportunities for improving speed and efficiency by centralizing, mechanizing and automating some of the labour intensive items of work currently being done at sites like concrete blocks, Precast concrete beams, columns, slabs etc., This establishment and operation of Precast Concrete Centres across major cities is to leverage synergies of automation and parallel activity on shop floor for fast track schedules at site.
