L&T’s Transmission Line Research and Testing Centre (TLRTC) at Kancheepuram, near Chennai is India’s largest tower testing station. Acclaimed as one of the best in the world, this testing station is equipped with facilities to carry out tests on square or rectangular base lattice tower, monopole, tubular structure and guyed tower for capacities upto 1200kV. This testing bed apart from analyzing the accuracy of the assumptions made in the design calculation ensures that the tower members meet the optimum levels and desired performance criteria. It also has an exclusive proto fabrication and assembly unit, which interface between design and testing process.
