  What is grade of concrete?

Grade of concrete refers to the strength of concrete after a period of 28 days, i.e. M20 grade refers to strength of concrete after 28 days as 200kg / cm square. While ordering L&T Concrete customer is expected to specify the grade depending on his requirement.

What tests are carried out by L&T Concrete to determine the strength of concrete?

Concrete cubes measuring 150mm x 150mm x 150mm are cast at regular intervals and the same cubes are tested to find out crushing strength on 7th and 28th day. The strength of the cube, which is the representative sample of the concrete, will indicate strength of concrete, produced by L&T Concrete.

What is meant by slump? Does the extra slump used for pumpable concrete affect the strength of concrete?

Slump is an indication of water cement ratio in concrete. Slump is measured in millimeter. More the slump more is the amount of water in concrete. In case of pumpable concrete a slump of 80 to 120 mm is desirable. Without compromising on water cement ratio this high slump of concrete is achieved by designing the mix and adding certain admixture to concrete. The strength of concrete is not affected due to high slump of pumpable concrete.

What is type of cement used?

For L&T Concrete we use L&T Cement. Grade of cement, used depends on project specifications could be either of grade 43, grade 53, or grade P53.
